Hospitals cited for heart care
by indystar on November 18, 2008
INDIANAPOLIS St. Vincent Hospital and the Indiana Heart Hospital, both Indianapolis-based, have been listed among the top 100 hospitals for cardiovascular care by Thomson Reuters' health-care unit. The study examined the performance of 970 hospitals and analyzed clinical outcomes for patients diagnosed with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and angioplasties. Thomson Reuters looked at records for 2006 and 2007. These hospitals "pushed the bar to new levels, particularly in improved survival rates and reduced costs," according to Thomson Reuters.
